Minutes of the May 17, 2007 meeting of the Historical Area Commission (HAC) held in the New Castle Town Hall at 2nd & Delaware Streets, New Castle, Delaware.

The Acting Chair, Mrs. Sally Monigle called the regular meeting of the Historic Area Commission for the City of New Castle to order at 4:50 p.m. and the roll was called.
Old Application:
R. Hyworth 49 W. 5th Street
Improvements: Repoint bricks on porch
Discussion:
Action: Mr. Heckrotte: I move we vote on the application as submitted.
Disposition: Approved
NC Building & Const 104-106 East 4th Street
Improvements: Build 2 single family homes
Discussion:
Action: Mr. Heckrotte: Not what we asked for in April’s meeting. Applicant is to come back with new plans.

NEW APPLICATIONS:
M. Johnson 27 W. 5th Street
Improvements: Replace 6 windows & back door. Put 2” stone in basement and install sump pump.
Discussion:
Action: Mr. Heckrotte: I move we vote on the application as submitted with proviso that they bring cut sheet for back door and litany is to be followed on all wood windows and doors.

Action: Mr. Heckrotte: As submitted for CONCEPT ONLY with proviso that the detailed plans be presented later. Porch must match porch on 27 E. 4th Street (square post, etc.)
Disposition: Approved (Mr. Bird voted no for reasons it is not appropriate)
D. Atherton 2 Plum Alley
Improvements: Replace 3 sets of double windows on sides of house to match the length of those on the front of house. The width will remain the same, the length will increase from 45’ to 64’. The style and material of windows will stay the same. Install shutters on all windows.

Action: Mr. Heckrotte: As submitted with approval for concept. Drawing of final version could be approved between meetings. Changing window size approved.

Action: Mr. Heckrotte: I move we vote on the application as submitted with proviso that no torch down be used and material be approved by Building Official and that roof edge mouldings extend only 1 to 1 1/2 “ not 2 or 2 ¼” as showing on roof.
